Climb The Heavens & Claim Your Place!

Who is god? is a tower jumping arcade game that was developed, and created ny MagikoGaming. If you have ever played 'Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess' for the PSN, or Xbox 360 then you'll have a good idea of what I mean. Basically the goal, or aim of 'Who is God?' is to bounce to the highest possible height without falling. This is complicated by various types of platforms and a limit of extra boosts that you can accumulate in your ascent in to the heavens.

The gameplay in 'Who is god?' is simple in that it only involves the left thumbstick for movement, and the 'A' button to boost. You will find that this is very helpful, because your main focus will be on trying to land on the proper platforms. The platforms in the game include stationary types, Moving types, Single use types, and platforms that will take away large amounts of your acquired boosts. To obtain extra boosts in the game you will need to collect bot small, and large stars. The large stars can get you up to 3 extra boosts while the small stars must be collected in large amounts to gain boosts. You'll find that how you manage your extra boosts, and how well you land on the various platforms will be the key in your success.

The scoring system in 'Who is God?' is actually much different than you may think. Instead of points your highscore will be measures in kilometers (km) of height. There are two featured leaderboards in the game. You'll find that there is a local leaderboard, as well as an online leaderboard. I imagine that most gamers will focus more on the online leaderboard though. On the game's start menu you will find the current online highscore that features the players gamertag, score, and God of choice. I think the leaderboards add good replay value to the game.

The visuals in 'Who is God?' are quite impressive, and feature a vivid color palette. The four gods that are available are brought to life in an 8bit kind of style that really makes the game stand out. Music in the game features some fast paced techno tunes that add to the overall intensity of the game. There are also retro game icons that pay homage to that genre, and briefly flash in the game's background as you ascend higher. The pulsing visual displays that accent the game's screen as you progress let you know that you are really doing well. With all of these fine details the game polishes up quite nicely.

As an arcade, and retro game fanatic I highly recommend this game. For 80 msp ($1) you get an XBLIG title that offers great replay value, and a good challenge for those highscore seekers out there. MagikoGaming did an Awesome job with this game. They made a simple, yet challenging gaming experience that will no doubt last a long time.
