When I first saw this game I was skeptical of it purely because of the fact that the image is of some kind of fuzzy critter surrounded by flowers. That all changed once I played the game though.
I'm glad that this game is better than I was expecting it to be. Finally someone made a game that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. You can play this game in co-op mode or single player, which is great that more than one person can play.
The Undergarden is a quite straightforward game. You play as a little fuzzy floating thing in the water (I have no clue what to actually call it.) You must collect pollen from little green sacks and regrow these plants that are just lying there dead, or at least they look dead. When you revive these plants with pollen the world comes alive with vibrant colors such as blue, orange, yellow and cyan.
Mixed throughout the levels are puzzle elements that are fairly easy to figure out but can sometimes trick you and they make you have to restart the level. Puzzles can be solved with heavy fruit, bubble fruit, light fruit and bomb fruit as well as with purple orbs that look like berries. Sometimes you need to lift rocks with bubble fruit, sometimes rocks need to be pushed down with heavy fruit. Light fruit clears Smog (the only way to get through the Smog is to carry a Light fruit next to it and make it disappear. Bomb fruit is used to blow up cracked rocks which are blocking paths you need to go through and sometimes the pieces of exploded rock need to be used to solve puzzles.
Overall, The Undergarden is a solid and fun puzzle game that can be enjoyed and played by people of all ages. The price point of 800 MSP is a little high for a simple game like this. As always, if you can buy this game at a discount DO IT!
