At 80MSP, we expect a number of different things from Indie Games. While it's true there are some amazing games at this price point, we generally don't mind splashing 80MSP on something that will prove little more than a distraction on a games night with friends. 'The American Hot Dog Race' from Super Boise is certainly the latter.
Your Avatar is in a race with a Celebrity Avatar-a-like, and whoever eat the most hotdogs wins. Eating is done by mashing a specific face button that bursts from the hotdog pile. The buttons change quickly and during the race you will have to quench your thirst by alternating L and R to win a drink, which causes the enemy to pause for a second. Early races are dull, but the action does become more intense as the difficulty ramps up over the course of the 10 competitors, and a little enjoyment does sneak in.
The graphics are pretty much what you expect from an Avatar driven title with the majority of the Avatar celebrities being recognisable, but the audio suffers from a music loop that annoys far to quickly.
In a party atmosphere, with 4 players nudging and battling each other in the same room the gameplay works much better, but the basic nature and limited single player options won't keep you playing for more than a few rounds and you will have seen everything the game has to offer in well under 20mins.
As such, i can't recommend this title. The 80MSP price point while low is home to some VERY strong titles that have much higher replay value, many of them made by Super Boise themselves.
So unless you're having a hot dog themed party with 3 other friends, avoid this title.
