Pellmell Hot

Pellmell is another addition to the addicting, side-scrolling, shooter genre. However, instead of flying a spaceship, you are Pellmell, a robot running through a training exercise. Pellmell can't wait to complete training and start real work. If you decide to, there is quite a deep story to be read in Pellmell.

The gameplay consists of running Pellmell through various training levels; there are over 100 available levels. You jump to avoid saws, dodge missiles, avoid obstacles, and collect power ups, multipliers, and ammo. As well, once you complete the few training levels, you will have the ability to shoot enemies. The levels can be completed at your own pace; holding back will allow Pellmell to run slow, but pushing forward will make Pellmell speed run through the level. Each level can be completed within a certain limited time. Although it is not required, doing so will grant you a bonus to your level score. Each level ends when you reach the exit portal. If you miss the exit portal, the level extends slightly longer and a new portal is opened.

Pellmell can be played with up to four players; you and up to three friends can play every level in competitive co-op. This can get quite hectic as everyone is moving around the screen at once trying to collect the items you want. I find with 1-2 players the experience is fun. Although the levels may appear repetitive, they grow increasingly more difficult. Each level felt like a time trial run without the need to beat a previous timed record.

Although Pellmell may seem like a classic side-scrolling shoot-em-up, it provides an original gameplay experience. Running Pellmell through the levels and jumping is much different than the usual spaceships. Fans of this genre should have a lot of fun with Pellmell; I only somewhat like the genre and I enjoyed Pellmell.

I'm enjoying Pellmell. It is a classic side scrolling shooter, but I like the speed mechanic where the further right you are on the screen the faster you move. It is well done. On the harder difficulty things get really frantic and challenging but still really fun. The game looks nice and I enjoy playing it for 20 to 30 minutes at a time.

I agree that the game is good and stands out from the classic side shooter. But even if the game is fun for a while, it also feels a bit to old. So my rate is a little better than ok.

A straight forward side scrolling shooter, but one that is frenetic to play and lots of fun.

Initially it seemed a bit drab, but after a short time i really got into the way the game works, with it's controllable scrolling speed and all. The aliens seemed boring, but after a bit of time i see how they work and it makes it fun.
The awards is nice, they are like MS achievements, but not quite the same.
The game has had a lot of care and attention spent on it. So i hope it does well.

then again, it is a FREE download and play some special trial levels to taste with. So what ya got to lose, nothing.

good game, much better than i expected.
