Dragons vs spaceships

Life is full of questions, How long will I live? Whats the point of it all? Will I die a virgin? Most notably of all who would win out of a fight, vampires or werewolves?
Ninjas or pirates?
even... cats or dogs?!?

The video game world has taken it upon itself to use its collective powers and creativity to answer these questions, in some cases multiple times. Few are left unanswered.

So now we turn to the most creative and questioning types in the industry to answer the questions those of us didn't even get around to thinking of asking or even thinking about thinking about asking.

These indie developers are free from the shackles of traditional question answering and have come to answer a new question. Who would win dragons or space ships??

Are the space ships piloted by little men?, we may never know. One thing we do know is they are pissed and are bent on destruction. The space fleet has come to destroy and abduct the dragon kind and its up to an elite fleet of dragons to kick some total space bum.

Dragons vs spaceships is a grand example of the classic scrolling s-mup you pilot your dragon vertically along while taking out to the best of your abilities the squadron after squadron of space fighters.
Sounds like your normal shooter? Well dragons very heroes redefine the playstyle of this shooter. Your chosen dragon, one of four, is a lovingly animated creature. Individual in its design and behaving quite differently from the normal shooter star. Being a dragon it moves like its on air. Switching direction while sticking to the basic rules of the shooter is more fluid. there's a feeling of slowing down and easing into movement. so unlike other shooters that rely on vast amounts of rivals.

Instead the challenge is understanding how your dragon moves. Adapting your play to each one. The dragons don't do the massive amounts of damage a space ship would do against its rivals in other games either. Instead you need to rely on tactical kills and collecting of nature based power-ups to progress. You can hold two a time though, and this allows for mixing and matching powers to create your once a time special power. This can be a meteor you call down from the front of the screen or a stationary manual turret type deal. How you mix your powers and deploy your specials can have a real effect on your success.

Did i say that the dragons were lovingly created here. They only consist of a few frames of animation but the quality to each of the dragons sprites is lovely. They feel like frames from a cartoon. A good cartoon. The rest of the game world is colourful and vibrant a pleasure to fly around in. The only jarring issue is with the distinct lack clashing style of the spaceships. Strictly your traditional shooter enemies. they feel pixilated and separate from everything else. This does play to the differences between the heroes and the enemies nature vs technology.
Also a worthy note has to go to a quite rip roaring soundtrack, its a bit repetitive after a while but damn good for getting the blood going in that retro geek rock way shooter music should be.
