Fireball. Sensational!

Incredible designer. The Radian games are simply amazing, and really offer so much to the thirty somethings who grew up on the likes of Defender, Tempest, and all the similar score /reaction based pieces of video games genius from an era that, without the likes of this guy, would be dead forever.

Anyway. Amongst the seven incredible titles there is one masterpiece that stands out head and shoulders for me. Fireball. But one thing baffles me about this, possibly the most compulsive game I have ever played. Why does it stop at Wave 8? Surely a game like this needs to evoke a feeling of infinity, daring gamers to go as far as possible, defying them to hit waves that are nigh impossible to finish. I just think it is a real shame that the game ends at Wave 8, and somehow the obsessive compulsion to play on isn't quite as strong. Going for hiscores in 2 minutes blasts is great ofcourse, but I really do wish it had an infinity waves mode.

Anyway, this game is genius regardless.

Nick

Fireball

This was my first purchase from Radiangames and for only 80 msp was steal. The game itself is easy enough to play with huge explosions filling up the screen. The game is fun enough that anyone can enjoy it so for a game less than dollar is quite a deal.

Fireball is awesome

So far, this is my favorite out of the radiangames. For me, the only downside is that it is single player (although this makes sense for the gameplay.)

I've played this almost every day since I spent my 80 msp on it. I've got some high scores on the leaderboards, and something about it just makes me want to try harder to get to the top!

If you liked this game, check out the other radiangames. My favorites are Inferno & JoyJoy.

Fireball

Best Indie game out there right now. If you haven't played any Radian Games, make sure to give this one a try, and then try the rest of them!

radiangames Fireball Review

Radiangames has made another hit. I think most of us would not expect any less after playing their first four titles. What is really amazing is that just three weeks ago Fluid released and now we’re getting another top notch titles from them.

Fireball is a simple concept done really well. It is similar to passivism in GeoWars, but expanded into a full game. You avoid all the enemies while triggering attacks that destroy them as they follow you around. In doing so the goal is not only to survive but to kill as many as possible in one attack and then rake up the bonus points.

Since your score is a major part of the game they have added online scoreboards to Fireball which track not only your score but the scores of everyone playing Fireball on Xbox Live. It is really nicely done and has a sort option to quickly find your best score in the leaderboards.

Fireball takes a sharp turn from the graphical style of the latest 2 Radiangames titles (fluid and inferno). Instead of the contrasting simple design of those games Fireball has fun, bright and striking colors. That is not to say that one style is better than the other. Just that they are different. Any yet as soon as you see Fireball in action you can tell it is from Radiangames by the clean and polished style.

The main game has 8 waves for you to try and get the best scores in. Fortunately, if you’re having trouble there is a “Chilled” mode that makes things a little easier. It is nice to practice in the easier mode and then step up the Normal and try for a high score. In addition to the main waves there are challenges to complete for scores as well. Each of the challenges is just 3 minutes long but surviving them is much more difficult as they get progressively harder and faster as time progresses.

Fireball is a great game and easily the best $1 you will spend this week.
