Well, i love chess, and i have played some games of the chessmaster saga, I prefer the Pc saga, but the arcade its still good, has puzzle to make you think, and great in the multiplayer part, of course, the music is classical and relaxing, nothing to bother in your moves

This is a great chess game, but it does require some on-hand knowledge to get anywhere with it. When playing the puzzle mode, most puzzles left me scratching my head because I didn't know what a hung piece was.

The music is quite relaxing, if a little one-noted. A little variation in songs would have been nice.

The AI can be quite a challenge to play against which is great since the online mode is rarely populated in my experience.

Overall I would say this is worth getting. The achievements are quite simple, and the mood is just right to enjoy some chess.

Good chess engine

Clear art style. Big number of different KI opponents, Live-Multiplayer...
Chessmaster has everything a good chess engine needs. But you should know how to play chess. This is not the best game to learn chess.

Go buy the actual board game instead, unless you are a real chess fanatic. It's decent, but wow, I mean come on, as most of you have realized by a lot of my reviews, I don't think highly of games that are just transferred over to the arcade, when most people already have it at home.

It's not as complex as Chessmaster 10 but the solid engine is there. The mini-games help you notice moves you may not have noticed before.

Pretty good, but not quite worth the ten dollars.

It's a little bare bones, but it succeeds at being a stand-alone chess title on the Xbox LIVE Arcade.

If you're a casual chess player, you might want to consider downloading Spyglass Board Games, to get more bang for you buck.

If you're a hardcore chess player hankerin' for some chess action on your television screen, then check out Chessmaster LIVE. There are more modes than Spyglass Board Games' chess, a 2-D and 3-D mode, professional A.I. and the online community seems to be more active than Spyglass'.

In comparison to Spyglass, Chessmaster LIVE will definitely improve your chess skills, but I'm not quite sure if it is worth the $10.

Well... it does what it says.

Chess... I bought this in hopes to learn the game. I can't even beat the monkey (LOL Insert jokes here). Nice options for different boards and pieces. The 3d is nice too. I like how easy it is to change to a 2d view to get my bearings. The tutorials have actually helped me improve my very rudimentary skills.

hmm...a tad to regular

If you're into chess you can play it over Live now. But if you're not don't bother downloading. There are some really cool features, but for $10 I could go buy a couple coipes if the actual board game.

What more is there to say?

It's chess. If you want to play Chess, get this game.

There isn't really much more to it. The art is clear and easy to define. The game includes some new features as well however such as mini-puzzles which can help you to identify specific techniques such as 'forks' 'pins' and the like.

A feature packed chess game that stays true to the nature of the board game.

But remember, it's a CHESS game.
