If only it went on for longer....

I too have the PS3 version of the game, and I must say, I enjoyed every minute of playing it - it was just a shame that it was over all too quickly!

The gameplay and puzzle solving was right up my street but I only played it 3 times and obtained 100% completion... it was around 5/6 hours I think.

Some puzzles are trickier than others, but with the Hint system the game has, it's doubtful that you would get stuck at any point.

Some really fun gameplay - I just cant wait to play the DLC for this :-)

Recommend trying the trial out to any puzzle game fans out there

Great Game, but comes up short in a key area.

Stacking is a great concept and is very well executed overall. At times the puzzles can be a bit challenging but thankfully there is a Hint system to help you along. To say some of the characters are outlandish and over-the-top would be an understatement. Just to name a few characters there are: a bear, a family circus act, a guy who just punches everyone, a kid that pukes cookies on demand, and a flirty woman who can seduce any man with just a shake of her hips. Surprisingly that doesn't take away from the game at all, it just adds to the creativity of the game. All that aside, there are a couple of problems, the main problem is the asking price. 1200 MSP is a little high for a game that has only 4 levels and can be completed in a single sitting. I can only hope that there will be some free DLC somewhere down the line for this great arcade game to make the 1200 MSP asking price truly a great value.

Get game with an interesting concept

I actually downloaded this one on the PS3 network as it was free with the subscription. My 6 year old loved the demo and when we got the full game it was great. Some of the ways to solve the puzzles will have you going, "Man I should have thought of that" if you use the hint option. It's well worth the 1200 points though. The only part I didn't like was the silent movie cut scenes, but otherwise was a good game.

Great puzzles!

Stacking’s got this mix of puzzles, art and story that make for a great adventure game. It is not very often that we get a game where there are so many ways to complete each mission. Stacking not only gives you tons of options but encourages you to try and figure all of them out. I knew I was going to enjoy this style of play when the first challenge to get past a guard could be completed by seducing him, farting into a fan to clear the room or using a mechanic to open a vent and sneak in.

There are four main sections to Stacking and if you just go through each one as quickly as possible you’ll probably finish the main story in less than 5 hours, but you will also be missing a lot of the fun elements of Stacking. Finding all of the alternative solution to puzzles, all of the unique dolls and completing all the hi-jinks makes Stacking much more challenging and entertaining. Just running through the story would be doing a real disservice to yourself.

The art looks like you are in an old silent film complete with the slight blurring around the edges of the screen. The look fits well with the puzzle styles and gives everything a lighter atmosphere to a game that could be really dark – given that you are trying to free child laborers from an evil baron. There are quite a few cut scenes and even without any voice acting they are really fun to watch play out. The animations of the dolls walking and performing their actions were always funny to me as they bounced around without having any feet.

My one issue with the game is that the pacing at times seemed a little off. Most of the time things progressed nicely but a couple different times I’d run into a challenge that required major amounts of backtracking to complete. Maybe I just was not finding the easy solutions in these cases but walking all the way back to the start of a level to get a specific doll seemed like a waste of time.

Overall, I’d highly recommend checking out Stacking if you like puzzle games. The unique ways of completing the challenges require some imagination and are often quite funny. Don’t just power through the story but take your time and try to find all the solutions to each section as you reach it.
