What can I say about this game. This game is HILARIOUS and also fun for all ages. In Castle Crashers, you can select one of four characters to start out with. Then you go through an AMAZING campaign to defeat an evil wizard who stole the king's jewel. That's all i can say about this amazing game, but I highly recommend buying this game.

This game is extremely funny, and a must buy for everyone!

This game is a ton of fun for all ages! The campaign is really fun, and can make you laugh! Pick your character, each with their own matching powers! Beating the game with a certain character will unlock another certain character! Try to unlock them all! Once you beat the game with a character, you unlock Insane Mode, which is extremely tough, being much harder than the normal playthrough! This game is also great to play with freinds! Have up to 4-players locally, or over Xbox Live! There are even pets that give you a bonus upgrade depending on which one you take with you! You also level up, and can upgrade your characters Speed, Defense, Magic, or Strength!

Overall this game is so much fun, and is a definite buy! A must for all players! I HIGHLY reccomend this game!!

I really give this a 7.5.

This game is Awesome, yes with a capital A.
Your probably wondering why I gave this a 7.5.

First, the pros..

Fun, gory , clean art, simple, and great variety

Cons..

-Extremely Repetitive.
After your first play through, you pretty much been "there and done that."
I started playing it again after a looong hiatus.
-Sometimes the side-scrolling component requires you took take a good chunk of time out of bosses or such to kill.

Really, the biggest downside is replay value. Once you first start, the blade gets dull fast.

This game is unbelievably fun.

with three of your friends, this game has absolutely no flaws. The controls are as smooth as can be and the intensity only rises as you progress. Using one of many weapons, you hack and slash your way through the level using combos, jump attacks and special powers to survive.

Choosing the color of your warrior also chooses the power of your player.
Green = poison.
Blue = ice.
Red = lightning.
Orange = fire.
After choosing your favorite color/power, the fun begins. Setting off with your characters in a cutesy little faraway land, the enemies start pouring in using close quarters, arrowed distance combat and even behemoths who will pick you up and throw you across the level to thwart the crashers from their goal of (you never would've guessed) saving the princesses. Its a competition while also holding strong to its cooperative focus. Without all four acting as a team, coordination is imperative to survive the trap filled 2D world.

The bosses can be treacherous if the team doesn't use their powers as a tight unit and focus fire to cause the most damage in short amounts of time. The game stays in its classic inspired roots as the boss uses techniques that are able to be memorized as they're clued in by a tell-tale sign prior to the execution of each technique. With enough practice the game can be conquered time and time again to receive new playable characters, pets and weapons.

Different weapons can allow damage over speed or vice versa. Weapons can also be stylish for no good reason or extremely powerful if a lot of effort is required to attain it.
Pets can use their cuteness to heal you or their powers to stun/kill enemies and aid you on your quest. The pets shine in single player as the game is extremely difficult without comrades by your side, but if each player has a pet the onslaught can be quickly quieted with their abilities and awesomeness.
New characters can have different abilities but mainly stick to the four powers that are given to the four main knights, but some have skills that are exclusive to that character given the work it takes to acquire their usage.

Killing enemies earns you experience and the inclusion of experience/skills makes the replay value of this game through the roof. Each play through new levels are gained and powers are upgraded allowing the players to conquer the enemies more fluidly and show off their awesome moves in the arena.

The jokes are countless and timeless. Fart jokes reign supreme and subtle humor is ever prevalent. This game shines in quality from its gameplay to its attention to cartoon comedy. There isn't a much better action pummeler arcade game out there...I highly recommend this game for a party or to fulfill your need to spray the blood of your enemy in a hilarious and excellently developed manner.

This game is great, and I was able to pick it up as a special deal over the Christmas/New Year season. The graphics are super cool, and the game play is equally as great. For 2-D side scroller, this game brings lots of action to the playing field. There are lots of weapons to use, and 20 total characters to choose from (once you unlock them all). For me, some of the sound effects seem to over-power the musical score, but because the graphics and overall gameplay are so amazing, the sound effects take a back seat. I'd definitely recommend this game...especially because you can play up to four players locally or online.

Going back to the days of TMNT and XMEN arcade games, Castle Crashers is a perfect fit for the xbla. For just $15, youll get hours and hours of entertainment from this game, online or off.

Pros:
-4 player co-op online beat 'em up.
-Has a SMB3 feel to the over-world map, items, hidden stuff, etc.
-Clean but simple graphics make everything easy to see.
-Sound effects fit the game well and are satisfying.
-Many different hidden swords, animals, and treasures to uncover.
-Bosses are fun to fight.
-XP leveling up and adding better stats to your character gives this game enormous depth.
-This game has a wicked sense of humour, and i laughed all the way through.

Cons:
-Later in the game the enemies have enormous amounts of health and can sometimes be a chore to get rid of.
-Multiple playthoughs of certain sections required to get all the animals.
-Extra minigames aside from the main game are thoughtful, but a bore to play.

Overall 8/10.

Castle Crashers is an amazing 4-player beat-em-up. It has a great art direction and plenty of classes to choose from. While it's a bit repetitive, it's a beat-em-up, and that's their nature. Online was plagued with bad connections and taking forever to find a group, but hopefully that's all fixed by now. If it were never a problem, I'd still be playing it now. The only thing it does bad is it goes overboard with toilet humor, but it's slightly funny the first time around.

Castle Crashers kind of put me off with its high price tag at first but when I finally gave in I was glad.

You can play this game alone and it's crazy fun but it is so much better when you jump into the 4 player coop. There are a good amount of levels to go through and a ton of collectibles/unlockables. There are tons of weapons and pets to find throughout the game and a ton of playable characters to unlock as well. For the collectors out there, this game will give you a lot of bang for you buck. There are a ton of laughs through this game. As the plot unfolds you will find yourself laughing more and more from movie references, the slap stick humor and other things.

There are a few other multiplayer modes that add a little extra to the game but you won't find yourself actually playing that much at all. I won't even bother to mention them because all you really need is the single player/coop.

For you achievement junkies out there, this game is a simple 200/200 until you have to get the 2 online PVP achievements. I think you will only be able to get those achievements boosting or spending a LOT of time trying to get. Your fingers will be aching after those 2.

This game is worth the high price and you will get a lot out of it. If you have 1200MS to spend, this game is a great choice.

Definitely one of the best games on the arcade, especially for local multiplayer. There are tons of extra characters and weapons to unlock and find, and the RPG elements keep you playing, even after you've finished the game several times.

Castle Crashers is a fairly mediocre beat 'em up which seems to get forgiven for a lot of bad design decisions because it's one of the only available beat 'em ups this generation. It gets a lot of basic fundamentals wrong. The only real indication for being hit is when your health is in the critical, otherwise there will always be too many things happening on screen and there's barely any indication on your character that he's being hurt.

Another problem is how sensitive the game is on its hit detection. While the game has 2D visuals, the gameplay style of beat 'em ups is essentially 3D because of your ability to move around the stage in any direction. The problem with this in Castle Crashers is that you have to align your character with the enemy almost perfectly in order to hit them, moreso than any other beat 'em up I've ever played before. This causes more frustration than fun.

Enemies don't have health bars. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but in Castle Crashers the enemies aren't particularly hard to fight, but they have about double the health that you'd feel they should when you're fighting them. When you kill an enemy, you can still hit them, so when you're fighting someone you'll combo them in the air for 10 hits, and you'll have to guess if they've been killed or not and then stop attacking, only to see if they get up or stay down. Most of the time it just feels like you're pelting on every enemy for a lot more than they should take.

Lastly, RPG elements defeats the purpose of a beat 'em up entirely. Removing the skill needed, and the pick up and playability of beat 'em ups. Replaced now with grinding for levels, and having lopsided levels in your friend group making for inconsistent co-op play sessions.

I really don't see where this game gets all its praise.

There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said by other reviewers, so this will be quick.

1. Tons of weapons
2. Tons of characters
3. Great replayability
4. Great art style
5. Best couch game on XBLA

If you have friends who like to stop by and pick up a game and just play, this is a great one. This is the reason I have more than 2 controllers. The cuteness combined with the accessibility of the gameplay gets my girlfriend, who is very much a non-gamer, excited about this game. Everyone should play this game.

I was disappointed with Castle Crashers. That's not to say it was bad, but it was so overhyped that it's hard to not be affected by that. I tried my best to put that aside and found the game enjoyable. Sure, it's ridiculously repetitive and some of the humor is juvenile. At the same time, it's a great example of a traditional beat 'em up with enough smaller additions that replaying it makes sense.

I find it hard to play for long because at times it just seems to go on and on and on. Some enemies take way too many hits, largely because I think the game relies TOO heavily upon its leveling system. Some people love getting multiple characters maxed out, but I just find that tedious.

I personally never had any issues playing this online, but obviously many have.

From the moment you start playing 'Castle Crashers' to the time you put it down, it will remind you of those old-school beat 'em up games of yesteryear. And no matter how much leveling up of your character that you do, how many spells you cast, or how many animal orbs you find, this is a beat 'em up through and through. Now that is not a bad thing at all. In fact, it's the main reason I loved playing the demo so much. After falling in love with the first few levels in the demo, I took the plunge and put $15 of my money down for this game and I am happy I did. Too bad the experience is over too quickly.

When you first start the game up, you have a choice of four different knights you can use. In my game, I had the 'Alien Hominid' alien to choose from the start since I purchased that game awhile back. That was a nice touch. Anyway, depending on which knight you choose there are different kinds of magic available. The red knight uses lighting, orange used fire, and so on. As you play the game you will gain experience points similar to how you would in a RPG. Once you level up, you can add points to any of four categories (strength, magic, defense/heath, agility/bow & arrow) to create a character that fits your play style.

While it is great to be able to level up your character, I wish there were more categories to level up. And the only real difference between each character (including the many that you unlock throughout the course of the game) is the magic. Each character has a different kind of magic, so playing around with the game to find which character you like best is fun for awhile. The problem is that once you find your main character that you want to use, level him up, beat the game......well, there isn't much to do after that except to start the process all over again. Sure you can take your leveled character online and play, but you are just playing the same levels over again that you played in the single player. It would have been nice to have some different character traits with each character to distinguish one from the other besides the color, skin, and magic of that character.

It may sound like I am knocking the game, but that is really my only main issue with the game. I know this game was designed to be a long-term play due to the price and the big push for Xbox Live play, but I was really never sold on that. If you play the game co-op online and have more than a couple characters on screen at once, it just gets too chaotic to be fun. The other two multi-player games over Xbox Live are an 'Arena' (where you can fight other people's characters) and some 'slam on two buttons as fast as you can, eating mini-game'. While the arena can be fun at times, the other game is pure crap and was fun for about five seconds.

Other than those problems, this game is a blast. It got very addicting playing my first time through and building up my character while completing the story. The game is difficult at times, but nothing that will get you too frustrated. The bosses are fun to beat up on and while the story certainly won't win any awards, how can you go wrong with the "save the princess" theme once again? Another fun part of the game is trying to find all the animal orbs (little animals that hover over your character offering bonuses) and weapons. Any character can use any weapon (as long as they are leveled up enough), but most of the weapons have strengths and weaknesses that benefit a certain type of character that you might be making. For instance, if you are making a melee-type character you probably don't want to be using a magic staff. Sure it's all basic stuff for any veteran gamer, but it's fun nonetheless.

The game looks fantastic visually and has the same art-style as Alien Hominid had. The game sounds great, as well. Presentation wise, you are certainly getting your $15 worth as this is one of the better games in that area on Xbox Live Arcade. What I feel you don't get your $15 worth is the fact that the game is too short and the playing the game over Xbox Live is overrated. Thankfully, most of the glitches have been fixed due to a patch but the online community is shaky at best. And the game doesn't offer up much to do other than continually leveling up your character. After playing other top-notch games like Geometry Wars 2, I have no why this game would cost more. If a game is $15, it should be longer than this. In fact, the only game I have played so far that has been worth the extra $5 (at the time I paid for it) would have to be 'Puzzle Quest'. Hopefully developers and/or Microsoft don't make this a trend.

Overall, I can highly recommend Castle Crashers to almost any gamer out there. Like I said, this is really a $10 game masquerading as a $15 title, but the game is a blast to play. It's over a bit too quickly for my tastes, but everyone who owns an Xbox 360 should check this game out. If you like the demo, you will like the rest of the game.

I was initially impressed with Castle Crashers. Like everyone else, I was a fan of the game before it even came out. I can safely say that after beating the game with my Gray Knight, the illusion has worn off. What struck me was the obvious bug that even I succumbed to when I showed it off to a friend, losing my level 37 knight, all the animal orbs, and most of the weapons. That was a sad day.

What really gets to me is that this game has less impressive features than Gauntlet Live, a XBLA title ready at launch. Arena mode is plagued with people who exploit those infinite air combos. There are so many good beat-em-ups, that with Castle Crashers' art style, it was easy for people to put this game at the top of their list.

Despite it's flaws, I'm looking forward to the patch and hope Behemoth throws in some extras for those of us that spent the $20 on it.

For some reason, the moment I picked up this game I truly realized that it was going to be amazing. The game is fun to play with your friends in Co-Op the various amounts of playable characters was nice and added the experience. The little jokes here and there were great and what topped it all off was that it was made by Behemoth. The great developers that made Alien Homid HD and I also thought that game was amazing. What was a disappointment was the weeks and weeks that passed where Behemoth did not patch the game to fix the online and offline problems. Online was laggy at times and would randomly disconnect people. Then offline sometimes it wouldn't save your character and everything you worked for beforehand was gone. For a game of this calibur I would rate it a 10/10 but with the memory and online issues it gets a 8/10 from me.

than going through a sidesrolling board with a buddy and wiping the floor with the outnumbering faceless hoard of the many classic beat'em ups you'd care to name. Well, yes, but few can be had for $15 and given to you online.

Great for coop

There are too few games these days supporting local same-console play. This game however encourages 4 players to play together through many levels of classic beat-em-up action. If you like coop this is a must buy.
