I've got a confession. I'm not really a fan of the original Bionic Commando or even Bionic Commando Rearmed. Mostly it is because I'm not that good at side scrolling platformers. However, when I saw Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 at E3 this week I was so impressed with the graphics that I decided to give it a try. The visuals have a lot of bright vibrant colors and everything was really detailed. The game is expected on Xbox Live Arcade in Q1 2011. The major change this time is that you can now jump, but there have also added new weapons to the mix.
I heard some people complaining about that it was not a real Bionic Commando game if you can jump, but frankly I loved it. Instead of having to rely solely on the grappling hook to traverse the levels I was able to combine it with the jump to quickly get around. You can get to some really high platforms by jumping and then using the grappling hook while at the top of your jump. I loved combining the jump then swing to get above enemies and then do the "death from above" slam to take then out. For me, the jump took this from a game I probably would have skipped to one I'm planning to get the day it comes out.
