Abaddon Logo Xbox Live Indie Games has a lot of two-stick shooters but most of them don't have leaderboards or multiplayer support. but this upcoming dual-stick shooter, Abaddon, not only has multiplayer but RPG elements as well.  I was digging around their site and found a couple trailers and more game details I thought were interesting.

Game Features

Epic Battles

The action never stops as you battle up to several hundred enemy spacecraft at one time. You will face anything from small fighter ships to enormous and deadly capital ships. Each enemy you face has various strengths and weaknesses, and it's up to you to discover which is the best way to take them down.

Fun Gameplay

Abaddon's gameplay is fun and simple. The control scheme is easy for beginners to pick up, but provides enough depth for more advanced players. Another strategic option is to repair the powerful turrets on Abaddon itself! Once Abaddon is fully operational, it is a force to be reckoned with!

Tons of Replayability

Abaddon has three game modes that will entertain you for eons!

  • Ambush: Defend Abaddon as it intercepts an enemy supply line.
  • Assault: See how fast you can take down an enemy outpost.
  • Survival: See how long you can survive the enemy onslaught in this end-game scenario.

Each mode uses a specialized random enemy generating system (similar to various role-playing games) so no two battles are ever the same!

Role Playing Aspects

Tired of playing indie games that have no depth to them? In Abaddon, you can purchase new ships, weapons, and abilities by spending green matter that you collect from enemy ships. Furthermore, you have an inventory system of upgrades called "Power Orbs" that persist permanently between game instances. You can combine weaker Power Orbs into more powerful orbs, which allow you to get through the tough parts of various game modes!

Drop-In Multiplayer on Xbox Live AND Local Multiplayer

Most games force you to wait in a Lobby screen or a matching making system to find people to play with before you can start playing. In Abaddon, you can just start a game, and people can join you while you're playing. You also have the ability to turn this option off if you want to play with your friends only. If you have a buddy at your home that wants to join in the fun, he or she can hop on another controller, and can control the turrets on your ship. Up to 4 separate XBox's can join in one multiplayer session meaning that 8 people can be involved in one session!
